Valencia
What better way to escape the cold January blues than a city trip to Valancia with your best friend? My Favorite spots and tips if you want to explore this beautiful Spanish city.
The spontaneous trips are always the most fun and so was this one. Only a week after booking we were headed to the airport for our little Spanish getaway.
Valencia has a nice mixture of old, culture, tech and new. A city that’s close to the beach will always be in flavour for me because you have the best of both worlds!
Winter in Valencia is still warm! It can be cold but we were lucky with temperatures between 15 and 21 degrees! We even swam in the ocean in January!!
Valencias main highlight is ‘’Ciudad de las artes y las Ciencias’’ the famous buildings which are a museum, a garden and a nightclub. It’s worth it to walk around, take a break and watch all the tourists fall in the water because they can’t handle the glass bottom canoes and just relax underneath the Spanish sun.
Highlights
My favorite things to do here were to walk around in the park, seeing the locals play games and do their workouts, just like around the Cathedral, have a wine, wear your sunnies and absorb everything the city has to offer.
Valencia is a good city to explore on bike too (yay for the Dutchies)! Not dangerous, easy to get to the beach and riding your bike underneath orange trees almost makes you feel like you’re in the countryside.
Food
Spain is very good with fresh, cheap and delicious food! The sangria is different at every restaurant, the Paella will never be bad, fresh orange juice from the cities own trees is perfect mix of sour and sweet, Tapas is a whole new level and don’t get me started on breakfast!
My favorite breakfast spot was Dulce de Leche!! Oh my, those croissants (not GF) looked amazing and my friend loved them. I had the smoothie bowls and they were devine!
Go the Barrio El Carmen for the cutest bars and restaurants, take a look at the central market for fresh veggies and heaps of other mouth watering foods.
It’s a perfect city to recharge for a few days. sunny but not as crowded as Barcelona, heaps of culture and the real Spanish vibe!
Highly recommend it!
