London

The city famous for it’s history, royalty and fish and chips.

Let me show you what I did in 8 days of exploring, working and adventures in this international city.

practicalilties

A city so close but yet so far. As one of my Amercian friends puts it, ‘Newyork city but relaxed.’ An international city where new meets old, and cultures intertwine.

This trip was spontaneously planned because one of my friends from America was coming over and I hadn’t seen here in 5 years. So me and another dutchie decided that we’d come swing by.

To get to London you can get a plane or a train. London has a lot of airports which are FAR out of the city, so we took the train from Rotterdam. Also, because it’s cheap (90euros round trip), better for the environment and you arrive at London st Pancras (center of London).

Must sees

London is known for the BigBen, Buckingham Palace and Towerbridge but it has so much more. Cute neigborhoods like SOHO and Camden will show you that it’s colourfull and full of life. It has many architectural gems, hidden food markets and did you know that London is one of the greenest cities, due to all of the parks?

Take the Tube or cute red bus to explore the Big spots but make sure you walk around aswel to really explore London. The typical London taxis are highly overpriced so make sure you take a Uber of Bolt.

If you’re into history I’d suggest going to the London Museum, the war chambers and the Tower. If you’re more a nature and foodlover like me, skip these because; you need to arrive early to skip the line and to be honest, I didn’t think it was worth it.

Go to Covent Garden or Camben market instead. Covent Garden has a lot of different food, Jubilee Market is across the street and has cute stands to shop and you will get entertained by a street artist.

FOOD

When you’re done seeing the highlights it time for food…

If you think of London, you think of Fish & Chips, right? You can get it everywhere and many spots have GLUTENFREE options as well. Like Mayfair Chippy, It was so good and crunchy!

It’s a diverse city so enjoy a good Curry at The Agra, good lunch at Bill’s or expensive cocktails at the skyview Aqua bar in de Shard.

These are my favorite spots:

  • fish and chips at Mayfair Chippy. (GF options)
  • Aerepa with fried chicken at Pollote. in Camben Market and Sevens Dials Market (GF options)
  • Pancakes at Where the pancakes are in Fitzrovia (GF options)
  • Drinks and snacks at the southbank new London Eye
  • Camden market, food from all over the world! almost to many options to choose! Also for Glutenfree, vegan and veggie options.
